History of this Fair-
According to ancient texts and legends Asur king Raja Virochan was the son of Bhakt Prahlaad. Asur king Raja Virochan had 10 queens. After the death of Asur king Raja Virochan, his 9 queens became "Sati". The 10th queen was prohibited to become "Sati" due to inevitable reasons. At that time, after the 9 queens became "Sati", a memorial was built at Baanganga Teerth of Bilara and this fair is organized each year in the memory of that event.
This is another famous fair of Rajasthan. This is also organised on Kartik Poornima (according to the Indian calendar) i.e. in the month of November-December, at the Baanganga Teerth. This fair is also famous in all over Rajasthan as the "Fair of Ganga Maai". In the dawn of this day, thousands of people bath in the holy pond of Baanganga Teerth. This is a continue tradition since several thousand years. Thats why Bilara City is also called "Second Pushkar of Rajasthan".
